Betty

Betty is a seamstress and professional chef who has spent most of her adult life living on the Big Island in Hawaii. Domestic violence led to her relocating to Louisville, where she became homeless. Betty has made amazing strides since joining The Hope Buss and samaritan. 19 supporters, some of them Louisvillians and Hawaii residents, sending encouragements and aiding with core financial needs like groceries, school supplies, and winter clothing while she completed steps in her plan forward that included going back to school, and applying to housing. Betty has now finished her classes at the University of Louisville (with a 3.75 GPA), moved into housing, and is raising a kitten! She proudly says that the support she requires from The Hope Buss and samaritan is no longer financial. Her new goal is to save funds in the event of an emergency, and continue to pay her bills and insurance.
