Big Lue
Big Lue grew up in Baltimore and is the youngest of 8. He is currently in recovery and attends group therapy to support his sobriety. His long-term goal and dream is to find full-time work as a chef and spread love to his community through food. After joining samaritan through the Franciscan Center, Big Lue began receiving words of encouragement and financial support through 24 individual and institutional community supporters, who sent him words of encouragement and checked in with him as he completed over 10 steps to recovery, which included regularly meeting his case manager and accessing healthcare. These supporters also helped cover critical costs blocking his recovery, like the purchase of a bus pass, groceries, and a warm winter coat. This help allowed Big Lue to stay safely housed and fed; he is now preparing to attend the Franciscan Centers culinary arts program!
