Their Story

I am interested in communications about efficiency and difficult conversations...

on what and we perceived the issues and what other. Methods can be applied to change improve and be responsible. I am passionate about the work of trauma informed care and harm reduction methodology and philosophy and it's real world applications with a humanist approach. I have been training Peer Support specialists for close to 8 years , I am a certified Mental health recovery counselor lead , case manager , social worker , I have worked in the fields , in the camps , in the streets , for non profits , for closed facilities, today is my 21 st year clean and sober , Ihave received the diagnosis of CPTSD , I am currently experiencing Homelessness due to a series events , loss of renewal of contract due to end of year fiscal restrictions, my roommate moving out and my wife now ex moving in with roommate out of state , DHS taking 4 months to give me my clearance, the totality of these and the incredible financial hardship, I stumbled and found myself without work home or partner ...yet the insight of this lived experience has given me even me more drive to support those who are suffering everyday . Any and all your support helps me maintain a certain basic care for self , gas money to drive to volunteer and tend to self and others . I am in desperate need of a safe place , a room or a piece of backyard , or a bit of a garage till I lock down some employment. Regardless I am working diligently on my well being and those we serve and care for. I am ex military from France and did the Balkans war of 91 through 94 . Unfortunately I do not qualify for housing because it has only been 9 weeks and employability is not considered in the current model of priority for emergency housing , 23%of the current homeless and employable with over 78% success in returning to a active participation of life ...yet I am told I must wait another 3 to 6 months ...so my only solution is to return to work ASAP . My name is Leo thank you for your care. My goal is being part of the solution while also taking a real look at ourselves first before pointing the finger , never giving up.

Immediate Need

Dear Supporters, I am in need of a job, I have been told that I am over qualiified for postitions that match my skills. I also feel since I am homeless there is a aire of judgement if job responsiblities I would not be able to meet. I do have a vehicle, and at times I run out of gas. This tends to short stop me from being able to transport myself where I need to be. Although I do try to prioritieze my meetings with my case manager who gives me support towards my endeavors.

These are our neighbors

During this unprecented time, it's never been more important to help them find a safe, stable, supportive place to sleep at night.

We find that when we wrap a social home around someone, they gain the capacity to often find the physical home soon after.

You are invited to join one or many who seek to find a home this year.

The number one question I'm asked, is " Jeff, how do I respond when asked for help on the street? Samaritan is an answer to that question.

This is the first time in seven years people have seen me for who I am, not what I look like or come from.

Thanks to samaritans for checking up on and feeding me… Don’t know how I would have ate or kept warm many nights without you.

Sometimes, you can feel really invisible and it can kind of feel al lot of times like there's no help out there. It was just nice to have people be like "Yea, we really want to help."
